Staying Happy and Healthy, How to Keep Your Healthy Eating Habits in Check

This week, I chat with my good friend and former nutritionist, Skylar Griggs. Skylar is a Dietitian and the founder of Newbury Street Nutrition. She has been working with clients in Boston, and around the world, for years. Her sessions include discussions from how to get your kiddos to eat their veggies, to how to eat healthy while traveling and entertaining clients. We chat about things to consider while under quarantine and how to eat healthy once we get back to “regularly scheduled programming”. Weren’t able to listen live? Click below to catch up.

Things to consider, not only for quarantine:

  • When looking for supplements, always consult your dietitian and physician, to ensure these supplements do not counteract current prescribed medications.

  • Keep a schedule to help avoid impulse snacking, eating every 3-4 hours.

  • Everything is 80/20. Don’t stress over trying to be 100% healthy, indulge and enjoy, but remember that staying healthy will help with mood, sleep and immunity - all things that are especially important during this time.

  • Drink lots of water (recommended 8 - 8oz glasses per day).

  • Keep you alcohol, or other empty calories, in check. Having a glass of wine isn’t necessarily bad, but check in and make sure you are not drinking for the wrong reasons - like stress or emotional burden.
